Extremely rare and gorgeous period leaping stag weathervane set on period base directionals, attributed to E. G. Washburn & Co.
A handsome piece in nice condition as the photos show, having a solid zinc head with a copper body. It retains some of the original gold leafing and has stunning patina.
Circa 1880’s to 1890’s.
The weathervane without the directionals measure 27 ½” long x 22” high with 5 ½” wide at the Antlers.
The directionals, being of the same period, 1880 to 1890, having wear as the photos show, with all the N, E, S, W pieces intact. It is very difficult to find directionals of this period and this beautiful weathervane has them. A prize!!!
