Thomas R Curtin Oil Painting, Bakersfield, VT Farm Mountain Scene
Beautiful, original oil on board painting of a Bakersfield, Vermont farm scene with Shattuck Mountain rising in the background. Executed by noted Massachusetts/Vermont artist Thomas R. Curtin (Massachusetts 1899 – Vermont 1977), this work demonstrates Curtin’s confident brushwork and sensitive handling of rural light.
Notice the brush strokes that convey the flowing stream in the foreground and the layered textures of the homestead and fields beyond; the composition balances detail with expressive painterly touch. Signed and dated “1969” lower left.
Size: painting 24" x 14"; with original frame 28" x 18". In good original condition consistent with age; frame shows expected minor wear.
Thomas Curtin was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and retired to Jeffersonville, Vermont with his gallery. This is a fine example of his regional landscape work — a beautiful, evocative country scene well suited for collectors of New England landscape painting.
