Rare John Purdy Large Chart Map, Laurie Western, Eastern or Antient Hemisphere - Circa 1823
Rare early edition of John Purdy (1773-1843), large hand colored chart map printed by Richard Laurie in London, in two sections, Colombian or Western Hemisphere and the Eastern or Antient Hemisphere.
They both have printed at the bottom, from the Large Chart by Jn Purdy Second Edition Published Oct. 15, 1821 by RichD Holms Laurie No. 53 Fleet Street, London, Improved with Additions - 1823. 4. The other sides ending is identical but ends in 1823. 24.
This rare pair has some minor foxing, a few minor tears and folds as the photos all show.
These are from the large chart maps John Purdy. This map is very crisp with the lettering and is beautifully hand colored. The frame measures an impressive 83 1/2 “ long by 39” high, which has a chip out of the top left hand corner. Without the frame it measures 57” long by 32 1/2” high and is under plexiglass. It weighs about 60 pounds.
