$1,495.00

Rare USS Frigate Constitution, C-1979, 1906 Eagle head cane made from parts during the second reconstruction period of this famous ship, beginning in 1905, to restore the 44-gun ship into a museum ship.

The USS Frigate constitution, Old Ironsides is the world's oldest commissioned warship still afloat.  Designed by Joshua Humphreys, she gained her fame during the War of 1812.  The ship was saved from being scrapped in the 1830s by popular demand.  She was reconstructed in 1870 and reconstruction was started again in 1905 to restore her to a museum ship.

The cane. 34 1/4 inches long,  is live oak and copper, having not been touched with its original finish.  It bears its original copper tag "U.S. Frigate Constitution."

It supports a wonderful hand carved eagle head, 4 1/4 inches long, with the beak being a real Boar's tooth for hand stability.

His piercing eyes certainly make a statement.  A truly hard item to find.
