French Faience 17th Century Writing Desk Inkwell Stand, Polychrome Decoration
Beautiful and original late 17th-century French faience polychrome–decorated writing stand.
Dimensions: 17 1/2 in. long × 13 in. high × 5 1/2 in. deep.
Description: A finely modeled faience writing stand, richly decorated in polychrome enamels typical of late 17th-century French production. The stand retains crisp form and vibrant color, with decorative motifs and glazing that display the character and craftsmanship of the period. The piece makes an attractive and authentic example for collectors of early French ceramics and period desk accessories.
Condition: Amazing condition for its age. There is one small chip on one cap—this is the only noticeable flaw. As shown in the photographs, there is expected crazing and surface roughness consistent with age and original glaze; there are no hairlines or repairs. Overall we consider it to be in superior condition for a late 17th-century faience piece. Please review the photos carefully to make your own assessment of condition.
