Civil War 26 Cadet USMA Allien Scovill Convex Buttons - Rare Attic Find
Rare Attic Find, a set of 26 Cadet long coat, 5 arrow and 3 arrow, gold-plated convex shaped buttons, appearing to be used during the Civil War period.
These special buttons came off from a long coat appearing to be from the Civil War period, which was quite moth eaten; however, we still have it if any buyer would like to have it.
Scovill Mfg. Co of Waterbury made buttons for H. V. Allien, New York, a retailer of military goods, and often marking them with the Allien name. One button slipped through with the Scovill name on this coat.
The gold-plated buttons include:
14 - 3/4”, 5 arrow, Cadet USMA buttons marked H.V. Allien
1 - 3/4”, 5 arrow, Cadet USMA button marked Scovill Mfg. Co., Waterbury
11 - 1/2”, 3 arrow, Cadet USMA buttons marked H.V. Allian, New York.
This is very interesting and if anyone has more history on these buttons we would love to hear from you. Our research has these buttons being rare and from the 1845 to 1855 period and used around the time of the Civil War, 1861-1865, by the U S. Military Academy.
